Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant joined students of Our Lady of Grace High School, Bicholim to sing the National Song, Vande Mataram, on the historic occasion of its 150th year of composition. Dignitaries present at the occasion were WRD Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar, MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Fr. Kaitano, Fr. Succoro, the Principal, Teachers, and Students in this memorable event.
HCM said that this year marks 150 years of its creation and 75 years since it was adopted as our National Song. He bowed in reverence to Bankimchandra Chatterjee for penning this masterpiece that ignited the spirit of freedom in countless Indians during the struggle for Independence.
HCM extended his heartfelt congratulations to Vivekanand Kendra and the Directorate of Education for their initiative to promote the singing of Vande Mataram in schools across Goa. He stated that inspired by the enduring message of this song, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has charted the vision of Viksit Bharat, and expressed confidence that together, this dream will be realized
