Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inspected the Tillari Irrigation Project and canal work alongside WRD Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar, MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, CE Shri Badami, and WRD personnel.
HCM said that the Tillari Project is a lifeline for large parts of North Goa, supplying 240 MLD of water. He mentioned that with increasing demand, this requirement is projected to rise to 500 MLD.

HCM informed that to address this, the Government of Goa has sanctioned ₹128 crore for the redesign and strengthening of the 28-km-long canal, ensuring a reliable water supply that meets IS standards. He said that while half the work is completed, the remaining will be finished within the stipulated timeline.

HCM emphasized that this redesigning and strengthening initiative will guarantee uninterrupted water supply to key drinking water treatment plants – Assonora, Guirim, and Pilerne on the Left Bank, as well as Chandel, Mopa, and Dhargal on the Right Bank.
HCM reiterated that the Government remains committed to maintaining and upgrading the canal and related infrastructure to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted water supply for the next 25 years, meeting the growing needs of the region effectively.
