

The employment opportunities in Government Departments are limited and hence it is difficult for the Government to provide Government jobs for every aspiring youth
stated Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant while speaking at a Mega Job Fair 2022 function organized by the Department of Labour & Employment at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Indoor Stadium Dona Paula today.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the overwhelming response from youth and the stakeholders of Industrial sector. More than 18000 career aspirants youth educated in various streams participated in the fair. Over 4000 plus vacancies of jobs were to offer in various categories. I am confident that the State Government in collaboration with Private Sectors can bring change in the lives of our youth by providing them gainful employment he added.
The Chief Minister said Govt intends to provide some facilities like home loans, salary upgradation for those who work in private sector. For example he mentioned that Government is looking for ESI payment to be made from time to time.
Companies look for welfare of their employees by extending them the benefit of schemes of state and central Government in the state. Since the jobs in public sector are limited he advised the youth to opt towards private sector for acquiring jobs. The previous perception of securing jobs through elected representatives would be stopped hereafter. All Government recruitments will be done through Staff Selection Competitive examinations he said and added saying that Considering the overwhelming response from Job seekers and job donors the Government have decided to organize another Job Fair in South Goa.
The Chief Minister appreciated the change of mindset of our educated youth by turning from Government job to private which is praiseworthy. He said apart from providing attention towards human development efforts are being made to lay thrust on developing robust infrastructure in the state. He enlisted various developmental projects undertaken by the Government. National Water Sport Institute at Dona Paula, National Forensic Science University, Ayush Hospital, International School of Law at Sancoale are to name a few. Mopa airport and Ayush Hospital would be inaugurated by next month he informed.Also
Drone school, Drone policy would be passed soon.
The Chief Minister said one year experience will be made compulsory for securing Government jobs. Hereafter direct recruitment would be stopped. Mere securing degrees in B.A. B. Com. is not sufficient for securing job. Other allied skills would be made compulsory inorder to develop better human resource in the State.
Minister for Labour & Employment Shri Atanasio Monserrate while addressing the gathering said that 11th Job Fair organized by the Department of Labour & Employment saw more than 18500 youth registered and above 155 Companies participated in the fair.
He said, he is concerned towards the agony of those parents who come to see him in regards of jobs for their children. It is painful to see the frustration specially among our educated unemployed youth.
Today, thousands pass out from various universities and wish to seek a job which has become a tedious process.
Shri Monserrate said the reality of the employment opportunities in Government Departments are limited and therefore he strives to bring the job providers and job seekers on a common platform. He said the Chief Minister has been collaborating and convincing many Industrialists to set up their Establishments in Goa and I am sure that through his charismatic leadership we will manage to pull in the Industries. Our Government is here to open the doors, but you must enter yourself, by grabbing the opportunities which will be visible at this fair.
Shri Monserrate Speaking further said that the Employment exchange is updated with information of those seeking jobs. He has instructed the concern Department to see that all vacancies should be advertised on the local newspaper in Konkani and English so that our youth are aware of the vacancies existing in different firms.
So stay flexible for seeking opportunities in Private Firms. Don’t ever give up he opined. He also assured the Youth that efforts would be made to strive hard to see that maximum of our Youth are employed. He appreciated the Department for working tirelessly to make this job fair a grand success.
