The Directorate of Agriculture has organized a training programme named ‘Neera Technicians training programme for production of Coconut Neera’.

A batch of 20 participants will be deputed to Coconut Development Board’s, Institute of Technology (CIT), South Vazhakulam, Aluva, Kerala, during January-February 2022 for undergoing a detailed neera technician training. The training will be in house for 06 weeks i.e approximately 42 days.

The training programme will cover climbing on coconut tree, scientific knowledge of coconut inflorescence, process of neera tapping, details of tapping tools, preparation of inflorescence for toddy tapping on the tree, integrated pest and disease management, collection/storage and handling of neera, modern technology in harvesting of neera, testing neera for its quality, value addition of neera, statutory procedure for neera production, business management etc.

The entire expenditure on training will be borne by the Coconut Development Board and Government of Goa for the selected trainees.

The farmers, young unemployed youths from the State of Goa who are willing to participate in the said training programme may register their name with the nearest Zonal Agriculture Officers of their Taluka by submitting an application on plain paper giving the full name, address, constituency, age, mobile number and e-mail. The participants should be between the age group of 18 to 45 years and willing to stay at training institute, Kerala for a period of 42 days. The interested participants may register their name on or before November 22, 2021.
