SARDINHA-CHURCHILL WAR HOTS UP; ALLEGATIONS FLY HIGH

PANAJI: The war between South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha and Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao refuses to die down with the duo elaborating further, on allegations made against each other earlier.
Sardinha on Wednesday told reporters that he was appointed as in-charge of election campaign committee by Congress High Command to get Churchill elected as South Goa MP in 2004 Lok Sabha elections. He further stated that people of Goa know Churchill better. He is former Chief Minister, who had gone twice to jail, Sardinha quipped.
On the other hand, Churchill lashed out at Sardinha saying he does not require certificate from Sardinha.
Churchill said he had ensured Sardinha’s defeat twice in Curtorim constituency in 1994 and 2007 Assembly elections.
It may be recalled that Sardinha and Churchill locked horns in 1998 Lok Sabha elections wherein Sardinha defeated the then sitting MP Churchill, who contested on UGDP symbol.
