PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council former chairperson and councilor Ritesh Naik laid foundation stone for the construction of steps, a pathway, and beautification of Khadpaband Friends Colony on Friday.
This event was attended by Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Anand Naik, councilors, and local residents.
Residents of Friends Colony expressed concerns regarding the demand from some Kavlem locals for improved road connectivity between Kavlem and Khadpaband. They highlighted the dangers posed by high-speed vehicles on the National Highway, which increases the risk of fatal accidents. Bikers, in particular, face significant hazards when attempting to cross the junction. Given the area’s reputation as an accident-prone zone, they urged the Ponda Municipal Council to enhance the location with steps and a walking pathway to discourage motorcyclists from crossing the highway.
