MGP FAVOURS ‘ONE NATION ONE ELECTION’ PROPOSAL

PONDA: M G Party President Deepak Dhavlikar on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision “One Nation one Election” proposal should start from Goa.

Speaking to newsmen, Dhavlikar said Zilla Panchayat (ZP), municipality, village panchayat and Goa Assembly elections should be held simultaneously and Goa should set an example to other States. It will also fulfill the dream of PM Narendra Modi of `One Nation One Election’, he added.

Dhavlikar also declared that if regional MGP is voted back to power in 2022 Assembly elections then it will provide free electricity and water supply to people of weaker sections and in rural areas. He also promised unemployment allowance of Rs 5000 to unemployed youth if the party is voted to power at the next hustings.

He appealed to the people specially unemployed youth not to fall prey to promises of BJP such as creation of 10,000 jobs as it was nothing but an attempt to lure them ahead of elections. He alleged that the government had failed to pay mothly doles to beneficiaries of DSS Scheme, Laadli Laxmi, and Griha Aadhar schemes.

Dhavlikar demanded that the government should declare the exact date to hold the deferred ZP elections as there is confusion in the minds of voters and candidates. He said ZP election matter had now reached the High Court and the matter has been posted for hearing on 8th December.

The MGP President also strongly opposed coal transportation and railway double tracking in Goa. He said this policy decision was taken in 2016 when Manohar Parrikar was Chief Minister and slammed the BJP for changing decision and starting work of double tracking. He said in 2011 the then Congress government gave permission and questioned whether this is BJP government or the combine Congress-BJP government out to destroy Goa.

Dhavlikar said disqualification petition against 10 rebel Congress MLAs who joined into BJP is pending before the Supreme Court for last more than a year. He alleged that the BJP government and the Goa Assembly Speaker are adopting various delaying tactics to keep the matter pending till the time of next elections.
