
PONDA : Goa’s largest stakeholders’ meet, in celebration of World Tourism Day, was held at the scenic Nandanvan Spice Farm, bringing together key figures from the tourism industry. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Minister of Tourism Rohan Khaunte, GTDC Chairman Dr Ganesh Gaonkar, Director of Tourism Suneel Anchipaka , TTAG President Jack Sukhija and SKAL International Goa President Vivek Kerker.
The event emphasized the vital collaboration between Goa’s tourism stakeholders, as they work hand-in-hand to shape the future of tourism in the state. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte’s visionary leadership was lauded for his focus on implementing regenerative tourism practices that balance sustainability, environmental preservation, and community empowerment. A key component of his strategy is promoting hinterland tourism, rural experiences, and celebrating Goan culinary traditions, ensuring that tourists explore the diverse cultural richness beyond the coastline.
Speaking at the event, Rohan A Khaunte said, “Goa is more than just its beaches. With regenerative tourism, we aim to create experiences that sustain our environment, preserve our heritage, and uplift local communities. Together with our stakeholders who are the ambassadors of tourism, we are committed to driving a tourism model that benefits everyone—visitors and locals alike. We need to connect with emerging markets by showcasing Goa as a destination with much more to offer than what has traditionally been highlighted”.

Director of Tourism Suneel Anchipaka highlighted the department’s goals, saying, “Our primary focus is on promoting responsible tourism that not only preserves and nurtures the environment but also strengthens and uplifts our local communities. Through regenerative tourism practices, we are dedicated to offering travelers a truly authentic Goan experience—one that goes beyond the surface and allows them to connect with our rich cultural and natural heritage.”
During thr event and in recognition of academic excellence, the prestigious Vincent Ramos Scholarship for 2024-25 was awarded to Glen Lobo and Crystal De Souza of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Goa. The scholarship, established in honor of the Late Vincent Ramos, a prestigious son of Goa who was the Senior Vice President of IHCL Goa and General Manager of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa. During his career he was the general manager of Umaid Bhawan Palace when it was awarded as the best luxury hotel in the world. This scholarship marked a significant step in reinforcing the state’s dedication to nurturing future leaders in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
The celebration was marked by a joyful cake-cutting ceremony led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte. The festivities were further enlivened by a vibrant musical band performance, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere for all attendees.
To add a personal and creative touch, a colorful hand-printing activity involving the Chief Minister, Tourism Minister, and Director of Tourism was conducted. This symbolic gesture highlighted the unity between the Department of Tourism and its stakeholders, reflecting their shared commitment to working together to elevate Goa’s tourism industry.
