Goa celebrated Diwali by burning huge effigies of demon Narakasur in the early hours of Monday as a long-held tradition on the festival, marking the victory of good over evil. Gifts of sweets and food were given, and locals decorated their houses with bright lights, and create colorful Rangoli on the floor using colored powder and rice, which are thought to bring good luck.
