Goa Trinamool Congress leaders Trajano D’Mello, Tanoj Adwalpalkar and Shezad Khan slammed Pramod Sawant-led government for fooling the people of Goa by linking inquiry commission with SIT during a press conference at the party office in Panaji.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Goa TMC leader Trajano D’Mello questioned, ‘CM said that people who have been defrauded off of their properties can approach the inquiry commission with their legal documents and the cases will be looked into, but the question here is how long will the government wait for owners to stake a claim?’ Adding on, he highlighted, ‘The government is planning to replace the land grabbers and cheat Goans.’
Reminding the people of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s repeated failure to release terms and references of the SIT Trajano D’Mello said, ‘Goa TMC strongly objects to the CM’s statement that the terms and references are still being worked on and will be released in days to come. It’s like putting the cart before the horse.’
Slamming the BJP-led government for creating confusion amongst the people, D’Mello brought to the fore, ‘The CM clarified that the SIT will deal with the criminal aspects while the commission is only going to ascertain the legal heirs, and if heirs can’t be ascertained, the commission will hand over the property back to the government.’ He further added, ‘Linking the SIT and the inquiry commission is just another attempt at fooling the people.’
Exasperated by the BJP government’s inability to fast track the return of the defrauded property, D’Mello said, ‘The government has targeted mostly no man’s land, as suggested by the CM himself. If there are no claims by the owners, the government will go on to grab these lands. He further demanded, ‘The names, survey numbers, and locations of all such properties labeled as no man’s land should be released widely in the public domain.’
