Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar unfurled the national tricolor to mark the 60th Goa Liberation Day celebrations at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao today.

Addressing on the occasion, Shri Kavlekar said, the State Government has focused on the agriculture sector with the Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa programme. Government along with the construction of roads, bridges and overall infrastructure development is also focussed on human development, he said. Referring to the difficulties faced by the people for the ongoing roads and bridge networks work he said, today’s pain is tomorrows gain.

Shri Kavlekar asserting the need to boost farming by making optimum use of various subsidies and facilities provided by the Agriculture Department is giving said that the Government is determined to take the Agriculture sector among the masses.  Covid pandemic taught us that one should be self-sufficient.  Thee government is providing support to people in every field. May it be agriculture, industry etc, he added.

Extending his greeting to the people on the occasion of Liberation Day, the Dy. Chief Minister underscored the challenges and responsibilities every individual should shoulder to take the State on the path of development and success. He also acknowledged the contribution made by all the previous Chief Ministers for the development of State in every field.

Recalling the hard work and sacrifices of the freedom fighters to achieve Liberation from the Portuguese empire, he called upon the people to ensure that the State can take pride in the liberation achievements only when the overall development reaches to the last men. Let us all work to achieve the set goals, he said and asked for whole hearted support and cooperation leaving aside all differences from every individual. 

The Dy. Chief Minister on his arrival was received by the District Magistrate and Collector, Smt Ruchika Katyal, IAS and Supdt of Police, IPS, Shri Abhishek Dhania and later took the Guard of Honor from the Police and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation contingents.

Later Shri Kavlekar took salute from the march past of contingents of Goa Police, Home Guards, Goa Human Resource Development Corporation and students of Rosary  College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim; Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Comba Margao; MIBK High School, Ponda and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Cancona. Various cultural programmes were held on the occasion. 

MP, Rajya Sabha, Shri Vinay Tendulakar; MLAs, Shri Churchill Alemao, Shri Wilfred D’sa, Shri Clafasio Dias; Chairperson, Margao Municipal Council, Shri Lyndon Pereira; Chairperson, Quepem Municipal Council, Smt Suchita Shirwaikar; Additional Collector, Shri Surendra Naik; Senior Government officials, freedom fighters were amongst those prominent persons present on the occasion.
