This vaccination has offered significant protection to people of Goa against complications, admissions, and death due to Covid-19. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under Covid Vaccination Amrit Mohotsav Jana Abhiyaan has advised precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine to all beneficiaries aged 18 years and above who have taken 2 doses of covid vaccine and have completed 6 months from the 2nd dose. This dose is offered free of cost at all Government health centres across Goa on all days of the week from 150 July to 30th September 2022.
It is observed that despite of reducing the gap between 2″d dose and precautionary dose to 6 months the response is very unsatisfactory. Considering the slow pace of vaccination and rising Covid 19 cases, it is insisted that all eligible beneficiaries should take precautionary dose at the earliest to enhance their immunity.
Further, based on the scientific evidence and global practices it has been decided that option of Corbevax vaccine will be available as precaution dose after completion of 6 months from 2″d dose of either Covaxin or Covishield vaccine.
Further, in 12-14yrs and 15-17yrs age group, it is urged that all the eligible beneficiaries to take vaccine on urgent basis as there is rise in Covid 19 cases.
As the Ganesh Chaturthi festival is nearing wherein there will be crowding in Goa, it is requested that all should follow Covid appropriate behaviour i.e. maintain Social distance, wear mask, regular hand washing & get fully vaccinated.
