Nearly 100 Goans from across the world participated in the Goan Art Fest 2021 organised by the Global Goans Art Club on the theme ‘Happiness in Goa’. The participants sent their artwork in three categories which were adjudged by Dr Smitha Bhandare Kamat (educationist, cartoonist and columnist), Shri Mahendra Chodankar (retired art teacher from Goa College of Art), Vijay Bhandare (printmaker, painter and designer), Sagar Naik Mule (painter muralist) and Vineet Nair (deputy art director at Tinkle comics)Colin D’Cruz of Jazz Goa added music to those paintings and created three showreels which played before every workshop, while Ashley Alvares edited the videos. Nigel Gomes, Sophie Mascarenhas and Frankie Gerard Fernandes were the hosts at the week-long event.The Goan Art Fest week included daily workshops by young and budding artists, Debbie Fernandes (artwork), Kay Costa Viegas (story writing), Poorva Gude (poems), Siddhi Naik (painting), Leticia Alvares (draw with charcoal) and Ifima Pereira (miniature clay art).On the grand finale, global Goan kids recited a poem ‘Pausachea Nettar’ written by Fr Milagres Dias from Goa especially composed for the occasion.There was a panel discussion by Yolanda De Souza, Lina Vincent and Vince Costa.The results of the art contest were announced on September 26. In the juniors category, the winners were Jesus D’Souza (first), Jaden Machado and Neha Ravindra Deulker (Runners Up 1) and Utpal Garudi (Runners Up 2).In the teens category, the winners were Soham Govind Juvekar (first), Favan Jerusha Rodrigues (Runners Up 1) and Gezan D’Souza (Runners Up 2).In the adults category, the winners were Rudraji Borkar (first), Vidhi Sanjay Shet (Runners Up 1) and Pamela Pinto (Runners Up 2).Floscy Gracias, Jerson Antao and Savio Mascarenhas coordinated along with other representatives in reaching out to the people across the global diaspora to participate in the Goan Art Fest 2021.
