The Goa State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Goa Science Centre organized programme on occasion of Children’s Day and Closing ceremony of PAN India Awareness and Outreach Campaign 2021 and Legal Services Week as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav’ organised a Legal Services Camp at Goa Science Centre, Miramar, Panaji.
The programme commenced with the screening of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Anthem ‘ Ek Mutthi Aasmaan’. The welcome song was presented by the students of Goa College of music. A Ramp walk by girls depicting Legal Services and the tribal theme to honour and promote the NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme with placards was displayed (Courtesy Goa Sudharop). Shri. Irshad Aga, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, South Goa, welcomed. Justice Shri. Utkarsh Vishvanath Bakre, Former Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa and Chairperson, Goa Human Rights Commission delivered his address. Chief Guest Justice Shri. Manish Pitale, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa addressed the gathering.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of Moot Court Competition held for the Law Colleges in Goa. Shri. Narayan Amonkar, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, North Goa, proposed vote of thanks.
In the second session, there was a talk by Shri. Emidio Pinho, Director, Scan/One Stop Centre, Ms. Juliana Lohar, Coordinator, ARZ(NGO) on sex trafficking in Goa and Shri. Venkata Durga Prasad K. Project Coordinator, Goa Science Centre on the hazards of plastic use.
A NALSA short film on “Right to Education” was screened. Shri. Anil Scaria, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, South Goa proposed vote of thanks.
Stalls of various departments and organizations were set up on the occasion. Free eye checkup camp and performances of flash mob by the students of Ravindra Kelekar Dyanmandir School was also held. Smt. Sayonara Telles-Laad, Member Secretary, Goa State Legal Services Authority and Miss Tina Datta Bhosle compared the function. The event was coordinated by Smt. Sayonara Telles-Laad, Member Secretary, Goa State Legal Services Authority and Para Legal Volunteer Maria Angelica D’Souza.
