Seven books in Malayalam and English written by the Governor of Goa, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai were released. The programme was graced by the presence of two Governors, Governor of Chhattisgarh Ms. Anusuiya Uikey and Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Rajendra Arlekar. Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant was also present for the occasion.
Governor of Himachal Pradesh Shri Rajendra Arlekar after releasing four books, lamented the loss of reading habit particularly among the younger generation. Praising the Governor of Goa for his prolific writing, he appreciated the analytical mind of the author and his forthright views. He urged people to get into the reading habit.
Governor of Chhattisgarh, Ms. Anusuiya Uikey in her speech congratulated Governor of Goa and wished him many more success stories in future.
Chief Minister said that Governor of Goa has social service very close to his heart and this was reflected in his writings. Complimenting the Governor of Goa he urged him to write a book on Goa which is renowned for its beauty and communal harmony.
Governor of Goa in his thanks giving speech said that circumstances had inspired and influenced him to take up writing. The main influencers for his writing are Arnold Toynbee and Arnold Bennette. He expressed the view that behind great revolutions there were great writers.
Vice Chancellor of Goa University, Secretary of Department of Sainik Board, eminent Konkani and Marathi Writers and Members from Malyalam, Telugu,Tamil and Kannada Sanghas were present on the occasion.
Secretary to Governor Shri R. Mihir Vardhan welcomed the gathering. Smt. Shreya Gurav, Senior Assistant gave the Vote of Thanks.
