  3. APPOINTMENT OF N.D.AGARWAL AS ADVISOR OF PRINTING PRESS FLAYED

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today vehemently objected that Minister for Printing & Stationery Rohan Khaunte had brazenly appointed the 70 year old Mr. N.D. Agarwal as Advisor in the Printing & Stationery department. Agarwal, appointed on a monthly salary of Rs 50,000/- was a former South Goa Collector and ex-Director of Printing & Stationery.

Pointing out that the appointment of N.D.Agarwal as Advisor was in total violation and breach of the established rules and norms, Adv. Rodrigues has accused Minister Khaunte of having done this needless appointment with vested motives.

Citing that that the appointment of Agarwal for an initial six months was done on a skewed excuse that he would streamline timely publication of the Acts and Rules, Adv. Rodrigues has drawn the attention that as per the Rules of Business of the Goa Government this task has been solely assigned to the Department of Law and Judiciary and not the Department of Printing and Stationery as wrongly claimed by Minister Rohan Khaunte.

Urging the Goa Government that as a matter of rule it should ensure that there is a total ban on any extensions in service and contract appointments to the retired, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that every extension in service or contract appointment given beyond the retirement age was a cruel joke and a grave injustice to the Youth while it was also a severe prejudice to those unemployed aspiring to join the government service and to the young officers awaiting promotion.

Stating that no one is indispensable and steps should be taken well in advance to replace those retiring, Adv. Rodrigues has lamented that there are however some officers who just will not retire as they cannot live without the habitual feasting on government perks and freebies.

Reiterating that all good things need to come to an end and that there was something known as “retired life” which many government officers unfortunately cannot come to terms with, Adv. Rodrigues has publicly appealed to N.D. Agarawal to gracefully start enjoying his much overdue retirement.

Stressing on the need to invest in our youth and give them a chance to deliver, Adv. Rodrigues has expressed confidence that the power, diversity, and potential of our Goan youth could energize the bureaucracy into a vibrant engine to tow Goa out of the current woods which retired officers like N.D Agarwal would be delighted to eventually witness.
