The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday Condemned the BJP Govt for using force against fruit vendors outside GMC. AAP leader and National Youth Vice President Cecille Rodrigues rushed to Panaji Police Station and helped the vendors, intervening on their behalf to secure their release. Now is not the time to use force against Goenkars just trying to make a living.
Instead of working with Goenkars and assuaging their fears the authorities have used an iron hand on them. The Pandemic and lockdown has hit most Goans economically and the Govt instead of helping them is instead taking coercive steps against those who are trying to earn a living. Instead of meeting with vendors and clarifying the position the BJP has chosen using brute force.
This is the same BJP that is crying hoarse about providing 10,000 jobs to Goenkars. How can a Govt that’s denying Goenkars the right to livelihood that too violently ever provide jobs? The Pramod Sawant Govt in it’s last days is showing its true anti Goan color. The MLA has promised the vendors that they would be given a new location but right now he was missing from the ground. The vendors have not been given any compensation for their losses 2 months ago when the Govt cold heartedly demolished their shops.
“Where was the MLA? Isn’t it his duty to interface between these vendors and the Govt? The BJP Govt instead of talking to the vendors explaining to them their plan has instead attacked them ?” said AAP Leader, & National Youth President Cecille Rodrigues “These vendors are scared for their livelihoods. 2 months ago the vendors were promised new locations and today the MLA who promised this is missing! Just like all of Goa the MLA of StCruz has ignored his constituents and Goenkars who need their livelihood” added Rodrigues
