
PANAJI: The Carnival Float Parade 2025 in Panaji will be held on March 1. The Carnival floats will gather and line up on Ribandar Causeway starting from Santa Monica Jetty and the float parade will start at about 3 pm.
For smooth movement of vehicular traffic during the event, elaborate traffic arrangements are being made as under:
- DIVERSION AND FLOW OF TRAFFIC
- Float Movement
- The Carnival floats will initially assemble on Ribandar Causeway. Since the causeway road from Divja Circle to Ribandar-Merces bypass junction will be used for lining of floats, it shall be closed for general traffic from 10 pm hrs of 28/02/2025 to till all the floats have crossed the Divja Circle.
- From 2 pm Hrs all floats will be allowed to proceed from Divja Circle, below Mandovi Bridge near Santa Monica Jetty to come up to the starting Point i.e. Old Secretariat via DBB Marg on river side lane.
- The Floats will culminate near Kala Academy, Campal and thereafter will be parked at Football Ground on DBB Marg and remain till further instructions from the Traffic Police.
- No floats will be allowed to come from KTC Circle towards Divja Circle, instead they will be diverted towards Merces Circle to proceed via Bypass road to come to Ribandar causeway from Merces – Ribandar Road.
- Incoming Traffic to Panaji City
- The incoming traffic to Panaji city will proceed as per normal route that is through new Patto Bridge via Divja Circle and MLCP Parking facility route and will be diverted inside the city at Dayanand Bandodkar statue to proceed further Via Church square/Cross road junction.
- Vehicles coming from Bambolim side will also be allowed to enter Panaji city via new Mala Bridge – Four Pillar Junction – Bhatlem.
- Once the float parade begins, no City Buses will be allowed to ply in either direction till the float parade is over on DBB Marg.
- Traffic coming from Ribandar side towards Panaji will be diverted at Ribandar Causeway via Merces underpass, take right and proceed to Panaji via NH-4A.
- Outgoing Traffic from Panaji City
- The outgoing traffic including route buses from Miramar side will take right turn from Campal Ganesh/Kala Academy to proceed via Fire Brigade Junction/ St Inez Junction – Caculo Island –18th June Road-Church square—Cortinand thereafter proceed further via Old Patto bridge or Mala Bridge.
- Traffic coming from Rua-de-Ourem on reaching near Hotel Sona will not be allowed to take left. This traffic will be diverted to take right turn and then proceed towards Kaju Darbar and to their respective destination.
- In view of ban of entry of vehicles into the city, no heavy/commercial vehicles should be allowed to enter the City from 07.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs. Similarly the heavy and other commercial vehicles including all Tourist Buses coming from Dona Paula will not be allowed beyond Miramar Circle after 2 pm.
- Traffic from Panaji proceeding towards Ribandar will be diverted from Divja circle towards KTC Circle – Merces Circle – Bypass road and proceed further by Bye-pass road to take left from Ribandar – Merces road.
- Parking Zones
- All vehicles coming from North Goa for carnival floats will be parked at EDC Plaza/ MLCP and near KTC bus stand.
- All vehicles coming from South Goa for carnival floats will be advised via Press release to take road via GMC- Goa University – NIO Circle – Miramar and to park at Campal Parade Ground.
- No Parking Zones
- Jose Falcao Road
- Joao Castro Road
- Match Corner to Casa International (M.G. Road).
- Caculo Island to St. Inez junction.
- Church Square to Cortin Foot Bridge.
*Motorists desiring to proceed to St Inez/Taleigao/Miramar/Donapaula from KTC Area or Exit out from Miramar/Taleigo are advised to take route from Mala-Bhatlem or Goa University road to proceed to their destination.
