The Counselling Cell of Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Shiroda, celebrated World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2025 on the theme “Mental Health as a Universal Right: Our Shared Responsibility in Crisis.” The program aimed to promote awareness about the importance of mental well-being and to emphasize that maintaining mental health is a collective responsibility, especially during times of crisis.

The event was hosted by the College Counsellor, Ms. Florencia Souza, who briefed the gathering on the importance of inclusion, empathy, and the support rendered by the Counselling Cell towards the mental well-being of students. She encouraged everyone to create a safe and understanding environment for those experiencing mental health challenges.

The Professor and Principal Achut Pednekar addressed the audience and highlighted how everyone can contribute to helping others by being compassionate, attentive, and supportive, particularly in moments of distress or crisis.

As part of the celebration, students presented a One-Act Play focusing on mental health awareness and the importance of empathy and communication in supporting individuals facing challenges. The performance effectively conveyed the need to break the stigma surrounding mental health.

A Short Quiz on Mental Health was also conducted to enhance awareness through participation and learning. The event witnessed active participation from both students and staff members, creating an atmosphere of positivity, inclusion, and shared understanding.

The celebration concluded with the message that mental health is a universal human right, and caring for one another, especially in times of crisis, is not just an act of kindness but a shared human responsibility.
