  3. STUDY VISIT TO BITS PILANI GOA CAMPUS – A VALUABLE LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR PHYSICS STUDENTS OF SANQUELIM COLLEGE

SANQUELIM: The Department of Physics at Government College, Sanquelim organized a study visit to BITS Pilani Goa Campus on February 15 under the DBT Star College Scheme. A group of 23 enthusiastic students, accompanied by faculty members Mahendra Pednekar, Aga, Suvarna Patil and Anushka Panjikar, embarked on this educational trip to gain practical exposure to advanced research facilities and experimental techniques.

The visit commenced with an exploration of the Central Sophisticated Instrumentation Facility (CSIF), where students were introduced to state-of-the-art research instruments used in various scientific investigations. The experts at CSIF provided insightful demonstrations, explaining the working principles and applications of advanced instruments, which are crucial for high-end research in Physics and allied fields.

Following this, the students visited the Physics laboratories of the institute, where they observed cutting-edge experimental setups and ongoing research activities. Faculty members and researchers at BITS Pilani interacted with the students, offering valuable insights into diverse areas of Physics, including condensed matter physics, optics, and nanotechnology.

This visit provided students with first-hand exposure to sophisticated research methodologies and motivated them to explore higher education and research opportunities in Physics. The interactive sessions and live demonstrations enhanced their understanding of experimental techniques beyond classroom learning.

The Department of Physics extends its gratitude to BITS Pilani Goa Campus for their warm hospitality and to the DBT Star College Scheme for supporting this initiative. Such academic visits play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, inspiring students to pursue excellence in the field of Physics.
