
United Club of Utorda was bestowed with the State Youth Award for the year 2018-19 at the function organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs today at Secretariat, Porvorim.
Dy Chief Minister Manohar Azgaonkar who was the Chief Guest for the function presented the award. Directorate Sports and Youth Affairs Director, Shri Mekala Chaitanya Prasad IAS and other officials were present on the occasion
Dy. Chief Minister congratulating and appreciating the Committee and Members United Club of Utorda for their achievements said we have to promote sports activities and motivate our children to participate in Sports not only at State level but also impart training to participate at National level. Clubs across Goa should take responsibility to promote Sports activities, he added.
United Club of Utorda achieved this award under the Presidentship of Remy Pereira and Core Committee Shri Trindade Fernandes, IPP Anthony LC Fernandez and the current president Agnelo Pereira who also expressed his gratitude on the occasion.
The awardee club caters to not only Sports but various Cultural, Social and health related programs. The Club has conducted several awareness programmes related to blood donation, cleanliness drive, breast Cancer awareness etc. The club also runs a Music school with over 45 students learning keyboards, Guitar and Violin, besides GFDC center wherein young boys and girls train at the grassroots level to become aspiring football stars. The club has produced one international player while 7 players represented the State of Goa. Club has a medical facilitation centre where the club provides hospital beds, wheel chairs, nebulizer, oxygen cylinders and other medical instruments to the sick and needy. The club also has a Farmers club registered with NABARD.
