
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) convened its Special General Body Meeting today in New Delhi to deliberate on key matters concerning the nation’s sports administration and future hosting ambitions.
The agenda of the meeting included:
1. Consideration and passing of the audited statement of accounts for the financial year 2023–24.
2. Appointment of the statutory auditor for the financial year 2024–25.
3. Approval to submit a bid to the Commonwealth Sports for hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games in India, along with authorization for any incidental actions related to the bidding process.
The meeting witnessed participation from IOA office bearers and representatives from various state Olympic associations and national sports federations. In a significant move, the General Body unanimously endorsed India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, reflecting the country’s growing stature in the global sporting arena.
Representing the state of Goa, Mr. Jayesh Chandrakant Naik, Treasurer of the Goa Olympic Association and Joint Secretary of the Indian Weightlifting Federation, attended the meeting.
The IOA expressed optimism about India’s capability to successfully host a multi-sport event of this scale, citing the country’s infrastructure, experience, and commitment to promoting sports excellence.
