Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Tuesday raised the issues of broken roads and inadequate water supply to his constituency to urge the Chief Minister, who is also the Chief Minister to rectify the issues at the earliest.
“The roads that were dug up continue to remain unrepaired. There are a lot of festivals that are coming up in the constituency including the Bonderam, the Sangodd as well as Ganesh Chaturthi. The PWD knows how many people visit the villages. I hope that the issues are completed at the earliest,” Faldessai said.
He called for adequate supply to the constituency, especially the Kadamba plateau. “There are many tanks but. Constructions are growing. Lokvosti is growing. Please make arrangements for it. Water does not come. No water in Divar also,” he said.
Speaking about the Police Department, Faldessai urged the chief minister to expedite the work on the police station.
“Police are doing a good job. Old Goa has churches. Old Goa receives around 15,000 to 20000 tourists and pilgrims. We laid the foundation stone for the police station. The Chief Minister should start the work as quickly as possible is all I ask for,” he said. But he then went on to seek more staff for the police station.
“We have less police. We have a staff shortage at the police station. We need 10 Psi and 50 constables. If you merge the IRB with the police it will be helpful. We have only one Robert. We need at least two Robert’s . It is a wide area and has ferries to cross,” he said.
Speaking about Art and Culture and Sports, he demanded a full fledged Ravindra Bhavan for the constituency. “We need a Ravindra Bhavan. If not big, at least a small one. Our constituency is a hive of artistes and kalakars. We are No. 1. They receive prizes,” he said lamenting that the artistes of his constituency do not have a platform to showcase their talent.
Further, he called on the Art and Culture department to financially support cultural festivals in the constituency. “We need government help for the Bonderam. Then there’s Sangodd. We can’t manage with what amount we get. If the Art and Culture department can help financially, then along with the tourism department, it will be manageable,” he said.
