PERNEM POLICE ARREST AUSTRIAN NATIONAL, SEIZE CHARAS WORTH RS 1.20 LAKH
PERNEM: Continuing their drive against drugs activities the Pernem police on Sunday arrested Austrian national Stefen Hechenberger (43) and seized Charas worth Rs 1.20 lakh at Thorlebag-Keri.
As per information given by Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, police received credible information regarding one Austrian national involved in illegal drug activities. Accordingly a team was formed and a raid was conducted at Thorlebag-Keri during evening hours of Sunday and the accused person was caught red handed with possession of Charas worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
The accused has been placed under arrest under section 20(b) (ii)(B) of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and is currently in police custody.
It is learnt that the accused has history of illegal drug peddling and was earlier arrested by Goa Police in 2008.
The raiding team was led by PI Jivba Dalvi with PSIs Vivek Halarnkar and Praful Giri and constables Vinod Pednekar, Mithil Parab , Anishkumar Poke, Ravi Mhaloji, jivan Govekar, Yashudhar Ugwekar and Dayesh Khandeparkar.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Mapusa SDPO Gajanan Prabhudessai and SP North Ukrisht Prasoon.
