LIBERATE MARGINALISED SECTOR FROM HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN AND LOSSES SUFFERED DUE TO OUTBREAK OF COVID PANDEMIC AND COLLAPSE OF ECONOMY: KAMAT

PANAJI: It is important that the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant first release Rs 100 crore as economic revival package to liberate the marginalised sector from the huge financial burden and losses suffered by them due to outbreak of COVID pandemic and collapse of economy. The BJP government has pushed the State into complete bankruptcy and there is financial emergency in the State, charged Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat.

The government is on a borrowing spree with almost 100 crore borrowed every week. The attitude of the government goes with the famous Konkani saying “Rin Kadun Fest Karop”.

The BJP government has obsession for celebrations. The insensitive government remained in virtual mode celebrations and organised Taali Bajaav – Dia Jalav events when the entire country was under lockdown and people suffering. Today, the real tribute to all those known and unknown freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives and fought for Liberation of Goa will be by helping the needy and not incurring huge expenditure on celebrations, stated Kamat.

The BJP government has completely failed on all the fronts which has resulted in collapse of each and every household budget. The government has no money to take care of House Building Allowance of the hardworking government employees. The monthly pensions of the most deserving beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes like DSSY, Griha Aadhar, Widows, Senior Citizens, Persons with Disability, Seafarers etc. are not released for six to seven months. The government has failed to give financial grants for the local film makers for last six years. The farmers are suffering due to faulty policies of the government, claimed Kamat.

“I once again demand that the Chief Minister must first release White Paper on the financial status of Goa, COVID pandemic, Mhadei, three linear projects causing destruction to environment, coal handling which will actually help people to know the facts and figures, said Kamat.
