KALA ACADEMY TO HOLD ‘SHAM-E-GAZAL,’ A PROGRAMME OF HINDI GAZALS on 26 JANUARY

PANAJI: Kala Academy, Goa in collaboration with Department of Information and Publicity, Government of Goa will organise ‘Sham-e-Gazal’, a programme of Hindi Gazals at the Mini Open Air, near Green Lawns of Kala Academy, Campal-Panaji from 6 p.m onwards on Tuesday, 26th January, to mark the celebration of Republic Day.
The programme is conceptualised and co-ordinated by well known Goan Gazal Singer, Vishnu alias Ajay Naik who is also the music arranger of this programme. Rajavi Naik and Vibha Alangudi.

The instrumental accompanist for the programme will be provided by Suresh Ghadi (keyboard), Rohit Bandodkar (tabla), Ajit Phadte (side
rhythm and dolaki), Satan Carvalho (octopad), Jefry D’Souza (guitar) and Sameer Malashi (harmonium). Dr Lata Naik will compere the programme.

The Gazal form which came in the Hindi literature through Urdu became very popular through medium of films. Gazal has become a inseparable part of many Indian languages. Singers like Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh, and Begum Aktar are some prominent names who are instrumental in popularising Gazals amongst music lovers.

The Programme ‘Sham-e-Gazal’ will include some of the popular hindi film Gazals and will be presented by Ajay Naik, Rajavi Naik and Vibha Alangudi.

All the music lovers and connoisseurs are requested to take note of the above and attend the same by strictly adhering to all the prevalent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines of COVIDd-19, such as wearing of face mask, maintaining adequate social distancing etc.
