PANAJI: Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) has objected to the State government spending around Rs 100 crore for the 60th year Liberation Day celebration due to the dire financial position of the State.
Speaking to reporters GSM Youth Wing president Nitin Faldesai said that the government is constantly availing loans and demanded that the money be utilised for education, health, infrastructure and other sectors.
Faldesai also said the money can be used for settling the payment of government workers and to resolve issues of Goan seafarers.
The GSM has also demanded that the government make it clear why the celebrations are being taken up during COVID pandemic and where the money will be utilised.
