Governor Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai in his fourth round of “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” visited Margao, Assolna, Benaulim, Varca and Fatorda in Salcete taluka in South Goa today. First Lady of Goa Smt. Rita Sreedharan Pillai accompanied the Governor.
Since assuming charge as the Governor of Goa in 2021, the Governor Shri Sreedharan Pillai has undertaken several yatras across the length and breadth of Goa such as ‘Goa Gram Sampurna Yatra’, ‘Saimik Daiz Yatra’, ‘Dweep Parichay Yatra’ and ‘Goa Giriarohan Yatra’ to reach out and connect to the people in the State.
The Governor recently announced the start of new “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” involving visits to various holy places. During this yatra, the Governor offers prayers at these places of worship and invoked divine blessings for the peace, happiness and welfare of the people of Goa and the Nation.
The Governor began his yatra by visiting Lohia Maidan in Margao. Captain Viriato Fernandes, South Goa, MP; Opposition Leader, Shri Yuri Alemao; Shri Digambar Kamat, MLA and President, 18th June Kranti Samiti, Shri Avinash Shirodkar and committee members welcomed him at Lohia Maidan. Governor placed a wreath on the memorial and paid the tributes. Ms. Egna Cletus, IAS, Collector South Goa was also present on the occasion.
Thereafter the Governor visited Jain Mandir, Margao and took the blessings of the lord. President, Jain Mandir, Shri Shantilal Mehta welcomed the Governor.
The Governor was felicitated on the occasion.
Later, the Governor visited the late Dr Julio Menezes House at Assolna where he was welcomed by Shri Cruz Silva, MLA, Shri Ravi Menezes and others. Governor visited the ethnographic museum Goa Chitra, Goa Chakra and Goa Cruti, enriching the future at Benaulim where he was welcomed by Capt Venzy Viegas, MLA and Shri Victor Hugo Gomes.
On his arrival at Varca Church, Governor was welcomed by Parish Priest, Father Luis Alvares. Capt Venzy Viegas, MLA was also present.
Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai and First Lady of Goa Smt. Rita Sreedharan Pillai offered prayers at Shree Vitthal Rakhumai Temple, Margao.
Later, the Governor visited Shree Damodar Temple, Fatorda and Bilal Masjid at Chandrawado, Fatorda and offered prayers and took blessings. MLA, Shri Vijai Sardessai was present on the occasion.
During Khushal Kalyan Yatra the Governor offered prayers at all the places of worship that he visited, invoking divine blessings for peace, happiness and welfare of the people of Goa and the Nation.
The Governor was accompanied by Shri Sanjeev Gauns Desai, Secretary to the Governor; Shri R. Mihir Vardhan IAS(Retd)Special Officer to Governor; Shri, Sanjeev Sardesai, Historian and Shri A. Kalyana Harsha, Comptroller of Governor’s Household and others
