Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) solemnly observed Gandhi Jayanti by celebrating Swachh Bharat Diwas under the ongoing “Special Campaign 5.0” (2nd to 31st October 2025), reaffirming its commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean, green and sustainable India.

The programme was led by Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chairman & Managing Director, GSL, in the august presence of Shri Girish Borkar, Chairperson, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), along with GSL’s senior management, employees, CISF personnel and Safai Mitras.

The observance commenced with a Swachhta Pledge, followed by activities reflecting the spirit of “Shramdaan” and community-driven cleanliness.

Highlights of the Event:

Swachhta Pledge – Administered by CMD Shri Brajesh K Upadhyay, reiterating GSL’s dedication to hygiene, waste reduction and sustainable practices.

Cleanliness Drive – A large-scale drive “Shramdaan” was undertaken from GSL premises up to St. Andrew’s Circle covering major parts of the Vasco City. The campaign focused on the removal of plastic and dry waste, safe disposal, and the upkeep of public spaces.

Community Outreach – As part of the fortnight-long Swachhotsav 2025 under Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 Preparatory Phase from 17th to 30th September, 2025, GSL actively engaged local residents, schools, and community groups to spread awareness on cleanliness, waste segregation, and the environmental ideals championed by Mahatma Gandhi.

The “Special Campaign 5.0” (2nd to 31st October 2025), an initiative of the Government of India, calls upon citizens and institutions to join hands in building a cleaner and greener India. GSL continues to play an active role in supporting this national movement, aligning its efforts in line with Government of India.
