In preparation for the upcoming ‘Amcho Avaz Vijai’ Janta Darbar scheduled to be held on Friday, July 4 from 10amnto 1pm at Z Square Hotel, Vasco, key functionaries of the Goa Forward Party visited the venue on Tuesday to oversee arrangements and reaffirm the party’s commitment to the people of Mormugao Taluka.
Former councillor Nilesh Navelkar, local leader Seby from Dabolim, Goa Forward Party General Secretary Mohandas Lolyekar, and General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat inspected the venue.
Speaking to the media, Durgadas Kamat recalled the success of last year’s edition and emphasized that the Janta Darbar is meant to be a platform for genuine public engagement. “Mormugao has several longstanding issues—the MPT encroachments, the Kariwada jetty and the plight of fishermen, among others. Our leader Vijai Sardesai is coming here to meet the people, listen to them directly, and take up their grievances on the floor of the Assembly,” Kamat said.
Meanwhile, Goa Forward General Secretary Mohandas Lolyekar launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government in the state, citing a complete breakdown of law and order. “It is shocking that even BJP’s own leaders are exposing each other. Former BJP MLA Baby Azgaonkar has openly accused the current Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar of involvement in selling Ganja. What can be more damning?” he asked.
Lolienkar alleged that Goa under Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has become unsafe and lawless. “We have witnessed murders, acid attacks, and brutal crimes. Criminals are coming to Goa to kill, and they are not afraid of the police because the police are busy harassing locals. Goa is turning into a ‘murder destination’,” he added.
He further accused the BJP of prioritizing ‘hafta’ collection over governance. “The government machinery is failing and Dr. Sawant must ask himself whether he is morally fit to continue in office,” Lolienkar declared.
Commenting on BJP’s electoral outlook, Lolyekar pointed to the ruling party’s own slogan as a sign of insecurity. “Despite having 33 MLAs, the BJP is already talking about ‘27 in 2027’. They know they are losing ground with the people.”
The ‘Amcho Avaz Vijai’ Janta Darbar is expected to see strong public participation, with the Goa Forward Party aiming to position itself as the voice of the people in the Assembly and beyond.
