GOA CABINET APPROVES SCHEME FOR FRESH ENGINEERS TO BAG GOVT PROJECTS
PANAJI: Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Chief Minister’s Rozgar Yojana 2000 for Engineering Professional, both degree and diploma holders with an aim to provide various government projects up to Rs 10 lakh for degree engineers and upto Rs 5 lakh for diploma holders.
Announcing the details of the scheme after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the scheme will be open for degree and diploma engineers below 35 years of age and there will be separate slots/works for degree and diploma holders wherein they will have to compete within themselves and bag the government contracts.
The degree engineers will be allotted contracts upto Rs 10 lakh and diploma will be awarded contracts upto Rs 5 lakh.

Sawant said that the aim of the scheme is to provide jobs to every fresh degree and diploma engineers in the State and they can seek finances/soft loans from the EDC (Economic Development Corporation) so that unemployed engineers can start self-employment and stand on their feet.
Engineers from different streams can also avail the Chief Minister’s Rozgar Yojana 2000 for Engineering Professional, he said.
The Chief Minister hinted that similar schemes will also be introduced by the Water Resources Department (WRD) and Electricity Department for the benefit of fresh engineers, who can become Goan contractors/entrepreneurs.
