MARGAO: Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration in collaboration with Fssai and Ravindra Bhavan Margao organised Eat Right Walkathon 2025 from Ravindra Bhavan to Arlem circle and back to Ravindra Bhavan of about 5 km.
This is an initiative of Fssai to create awareness to the general public about the healthy eating habits along with physical activity in order to maintain general fitness and keep away lifestyle diseases.
The event was flagged off by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and FDA Director Shweta Dessai in the presence of Dr Manohar Borkar, Vice Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, GPMA President Dr Pravin Khullar, Director of Women and Child welfare Manuel Barreto andSanjay Bhandari, head corporate affairs west of Nestle India. .
10 minutes Zumba dance was performed by all participants followed by walk of 5 km. More than 750 people participated in event. The participants were students from various schools and colleges such as Carmel Higher Secondary, Carmel Food technology College, Nuvem, Damodar College of Arts and science Margao, Govt. High school, Morpilla Quepem and Almeida High School Ponda.
The representatives from various Pharma industries such as Cipla, Marksan, Fertin, Abbott, Blue Cross and others were present. The representatives from Nestle India, representative from national association of street food vendors and street food vendors from South Goa were also present. Staff and officials from other line departments like women and child welfare, Zilla Panchayat and others along with the general public participated in the event. The Department is thankful for the Traffic Police Cell South Goa, Police Department South , Sports Authority of Goa and Directorate of Health Services for their support in organising the event and making it a grand success.
