DCT’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, in collaboration with the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) – Education Committee, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), and the Goa Institute of Management (GIM), organized a State-Level Seminar titled ‘Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice in Commerce’ on 23rd September 2024 at the Dempo College Auditorium, Bambolim.

The seminar was inaugurated by Shrinivas V Dempo, Chairman of DCT’s Dempo College of Commerce and Economics and President of GCCI and Dempo College Principal Prof (Dr) Manoj S Kamat addressed the gathering.

Sanjay Amonkar, Director General of GCCI, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, CA Milind Shirodkar, Chairperson of the Managing Committee for Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI, was also present stating that ICAI is second largest accounting body where more than lakhs of people have been the part of the same.

The seminar featured insightful talks by distinguished speakers, including CA (Dr.) Satyaprakash Kamath, Chartered Accountant, Researcher, and Faculty, gave the insight on the topic of ‘Recent Advancements in Direct Taxes’ where he happened to distinguish between taxation structure of old regime and new regime

.Dr.Manas Mayur, Associate Professor of Finance and Accounting at GIM, discussed on ’Bull Market Dilemma: Behavioural Finance & The Value Investors Struggle’ giving the idea of behavioural bias and Ashish Malviya, Deputy General Manager and Regional Head of Union Bank of India, Goa, talked on the topic ‘Trends in Digital Baking: The Transformative Journey of Digitization in the Banking Industry’ sharing the thoughts on Neo Banking and various other ways of online banking options.

A panel discussion, moderated by Anant Agni, Member of the GCCI Education Committee, will bring together industry experts such as Ryan Vaz, Founder Director of Infinyt3d  and Audry Infra.;  Prasad Navelkar, Business Head at Metallica Goa; Manoj Patil, CMO, Goa; and  Vinayak M Kambli, Deputy Director (Training), Directorate of Skill and Entrepreneurship.

The seminar received participation by 187 students  from Higher Secondary School and Colleges s and 55 faculty members. The seminar was coordinated by Asst Prof Vibha Pai Angle, Asst Prof Amit Naik, Dr Trupti Chondankar and Dr Felcy Coelho. The vote of thanks was given by Assoc. Prof  Derina Rodrigues (HOD – Dept. of Commerce).
