  3. COLD CHAIN CRISIS, FOOD SAFETY IGNORED: VIJAI SARDESAI

Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai exposed the government’s failure to strengthen food logistics and safety mechanisms in Goa. Referring to a 2013 consultancy report, he highlighted that while Goa has 24 cold chain units, 92% are in private hands, creating a bottleneck that affects food prices and storage.

Sardesai also questioned the government’s silence on the formalin issue and the absence of regular food quality testing. “Where is the plan to expand cold chain capacity? When will proper food testing and quality control begin?” he asked. Sardesai demanded immediate action to ensure public health, food affordability, and supply chain efficiency.
