
Chief Minister, Dr.Pramod Sawant today urged women in the State to become self-reliant in every aspect of life thereby complementing the Swayampurna Goa initiative of the Government. He was speaking at a felicitation programme cum North Goa District Committee workshop organised by Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan held at Seminar Hall, Secretariat, Porvorim.
Chief Minister Dr.Sawant informed that the Government is implementing various welfare Schemes and Projects for the upliftment of the womenfolk in the State. Women need to approach the Government machinery to get optimum benefit of the Government Schemes. Swayampurna Goa initiative mainly aims to eradicate red tapism in the bureaucracy and spread awareness about Government Schemes through Swayanpoorna Mitra and facilitate the people to avail maximum benefits of the welfare schemes without any hassle, the Chief Minister added.
Minister for Panchayat Shri.Mauvin Godinho appreciated the efforts taken by the office bearers and elected women representatives of Goa Mahila Shakti Abhiyan during the pandemic. Elected Women fearlessly went around to help out the needy people during the pandemic.
During the programme ZP members who were elected for the first time were felicitated by the Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant. The Chief Minister presented the Best Block committee Award to the Bicholim Committee in North Goa and Dharbandora Committee in South Goa.
State Administrator, Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan Smt.Nelly Rodrigues, State President Smt. Diksha Kandolkar, South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairman Smt.Suvarna Tendulkar, North District Committee President Smt.Unnati Sahastrabuddhe were present on the occasion.
Smt. Sushma Sawant compered the programme and Secretary, Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan Smt. Sanisha Toraskar proposed a vote of thanks.
