CM LAUNCHES OTS SCHEME FOR POWER DEFAULTERS

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday launched One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for defaulting electricity consumers.

The scheme will be open for consumers till December 30 and consumer has option to clear their outstanding dues by either paying online by using any digital mode or paying cash.  On registration, the consumer will have to pay principal amount as per installment plan selected.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant congratulated the electricity department for launching the OTS scheme and for introducing online installment payment facility for the consumers. He said that similar scheme will also be started for PWD water supply defaulted consumers so as to recover the dues. He appealed to the people to avail the OTS scheme.

Cabral said that the OTS scheme is simple and that the department has introduced user-friendly portal for the consumer to register for OTS scheme. The consumer can apply online while the delayed payment charges (DPC) will be waived off partially or fully. Special counters will be set up at electricity sub-division level to assist the consumers. 

According to Cabral, the government intends to recover outstanding dues of Rs 426 crore approximately and the government will lose around Rs 92.51 crore due to waiving of DPC

Secretary (Power) Shri Kunal, Chief Electrical Engineer Rajiv Samant, Superintending Engineer (Planning Section) Mayur Hede and other officials were also present.

Later, Rajiv Samant proposed a vote of thanks.
