The Aam Aadmi Party candidate for Benaulim, Captain Venzy Viegas, received blessings and support from former sports minister and former Benaulim MLA Monte Cruz on Saturday.
While speaking to the media Viegas said, “With the elections just around the corner, it is an emotional time for me. I feel blessed and honoured to have the support of such an inspiring human being and politician as Monte Cruz”.
“Monte Cruz is the embodiment of clean politics and of politics grounded in accountability. He was the person whose initiative led to the establishment of Fatorda stadium in 1989, which he had finished within six months. The stadium is still standing after 33 years without any maintenance”, he added.
Further he said, “Unfortunately, Churchill Alemao, a politician who is still actively involved in politics today, had stated at the time in 1989 that he would tear down the Fatorda structure. This, however, did not occur. It is a lesson for today’s politicians that if one is doing work with sincerity and without corruption, everything will go well”.
Meanwhile, with AAP Benaulim candidate Captain Venzy Viegas ramping up his campaign in Benaulim, AAP is receiving an overwhelming response from the people. In the last month, he had established a range of panels comprised of members of different sections of society to come up with a Benaulim specific manifesto.
