PRIORITIZES GOA’S CRICKET DEVELOPMENT

PANAJI: Rohan Gauns Dessai, Joint Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has emphasized his commitment to improving cricket in Goa. Speaking to office bearers of Sports Journalists Association of Goa,  Dessai stated that his primary focus is enhancing the quality of the sport in the state while ensuring more opportunities for Goans in BCCI-related roles, including training, support staff, and management.

Addressing the long-pending issue of the international stadium, Dessai affirmed that he would work towards resolving it, recognizing its importance for the growth of cricket in the region. He highlighted his role as a key link between the BCCI and the Goa Cricket Association (GCA), expressing confidence in uniting all affiliated clubs to drive the stadium project forward.

“The development of cricket in Goa will gain real momentum once clubs start responding positively,” he said, stressing the vital role of GCA-affiliated clubs, which have been the organization’s backbone for decades. Dessai acknowledged their unwavering support and reiterated his commitment to strengthening Goa’s cricket infrastructure.

After a long gap since the tenure of Dayanand Narvekar and Prashant Joshi, GCA has secured a representation at the BCCI level. Dessai assured that he would focus on enhancing the state’s cricket facilities and overall development.

Sports Journalists Association of Goa president Mahesh Gaonkar, general secretary Dhiraj Mahambre, vice president Kenzil Rodrigues  and member Santosh Kubal greeted Rohan Gauns Dessai.
