The Asmita Khelo India Women’s League 2025, organized by Weightlifting Association of Goa in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF), was held at Vidhya Prabhodhini College, Porvorim, Goa on 7th August 2025. The inter-collegiate event featured eight categories of competition with an impressive participation of 80 athletes, including HSSC & school-level representation.
The Opening Ceremony witnessed a vibrant demo performance by the talented students of Vidhya Prabhodhini School, choreographed by Mr. Mahesh Kavlekar, which set the tone for the event. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mrs. Pratima Satish Dhond, Chairperson of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the Chief Guest.
The Closing Ceremony & Prize Distribution was presided over by Mr. Kishor Asnodkar, Director of the Goa Housing Board, as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Bhushan Bhave, Principal of Vidhya Prabhodhini College, joined as the Guest of Honour.

• Adv. Priyanka Naik, President of the Weightlifting Association of Goa
The programme was smoothly compered by Mr. Sylvester Gomes and Mr. Mahesh Kavlekar. A formal Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Sunny Kanekar, acknowledging the efforts of all participants, collaborators, and supporters who contributed to the success of the league.
The Asmita Khelo India Women’s League 2025 not only highlighted the sporting talent of young women athletes but also reinforced the collective commitment towards empowering women through sports in Goa and beyond.
