TOURISM MINISTER, MLA VIJAI SARDESAI CLASH IN GOA ASSEMBLY OVER ROAD SHOWS ABROAD
PANAJI: Goa Assembly on Friday witnessed heated arguments between Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai in Goa Assembly over expenditure for promotional events to boost domestic and international tourism in Goa.

Vijai who had tabled a starred question brought to the notice of Goa Assembly that then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar had assured the House that Pre-audit of all the promotional event will be conducted but last four years no audit was done.
Vijai also alleged that Rs 33.68 crore was utilised to promote Goa aboard in last four years. He also demanded to know how Govt money amounting to lakhs of rupees was kept with the agency in Germany when no road shows could be organised during Covid pandemic.
Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, who holds tourism portfolio told Vijai that he is ready for inquiry into the money given to agencies to hold road shows abroad which could not be held due to lockdown and claimed that because of road shows number of tourist arrivals in Goa had increased.
