The Goa Police was proudly awarded at national level with PI Deepak Pednekar of Cyber Crime PS getting prestigious DSCI “India Cyber Cop of the Year 2025” award and an award in capacity building category at the DSCI Excellence Awards ceremony held in Delhi on 05/12/2025.
About the first award –
PI Deepak Pednekar was awarded “cyber cop of the year” for investigation into major cyber crime cases including disruption of international human trafficking network into cyber slavery compounds in Cambodia and arrest of a Chinese origin national named Nulaxi Talaniti earlier this year. The case also led to disruption of SIM Box setup in Banglore denting the scam calls density significantly.
About the second recognition –
Cyber Crime police station Ribandar has been also awarded with finalist award in Excellence in Capacity Building of Law Enforcement Agencies category. SP Cyber crime Rahul Gupta was nominated to receive this award, PI Deepak received the award of his behalf.
This recognition comes due to significant advancement in cyber investigation capabilities of Goa Police over the past 1.5 years including initiatives such as –
- Training to approx 1000 Police personnel on cyber investigation
- Setting up of cybercrime response cell in all PSs
- Cyber Yoddha initiative with volunteer network for awareness
- Intensive muti-stakeholder cyber awareness training to general public
- Coordination with I4C with learning of best practices.
- 24×7 functional 1930 with advanced cloud based telephony.
