
In a significant leap towards skills-based education under the National Education Policy (NEP), twenty girls from Swami Vivekananda Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Bori, Ponda, have successfully completed a 240-hour Beauty Care Assistant course, conducted by Jan Shikshan Sanstha Porvorim under the Skill India initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India
This innovative course integrates theory, practical training, and viva voce examinations, providing students with market-ready skills such as Introduction to Beauty Care, Work Area Preparation, Skin Care, Depilation Services, Manicure and Pedicure, Make-up, Hair Dressing, Mehndi Design, and Market Exposure. All participating students achieved outstanding results across all modules, demonstrating high competency and commitment.
By aligning with the NEP’s vision for skill-based learning, the Beauty Care Assistant program empowers students to pursue self-employment opportunities and contribute to a skilled workforce. The initiative received invaluable support from Principal Dr. Pednekar, Course Coordinator Mrs. Gayatri Behare, and Ms. Florencia Souza, whose guidance was key to its successful execution.

This accomplishment underscores the importance of integrating vocational training within mainstream education, marking a milestone for student empowerment and future employability in Goa.
