With the tenth session of eight legislative assembly is starting from Monday, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has expressed determination to hold the government accountable for its failures in administration and addressing public issues.
“Despite the curtailed assembly session schedule, I along with other opposition MLAs who are working in the interest of the state have planned to scrutinize the government’s performance and raise critical questions. Law and order has collapsed in the state, but government is busy in hosting events and collecting commissions. There is need to study carrying capacity of the state as Government is promoting Mega housing projects by converting land. We will raise these all issues in the assembly session,” Alemao said.
Yuri Alemao, Congress MLAs Carlos Ferreira and Altone D’Costa, and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva recently met and strategized the policy to take government accountable during the assembly session.
“Apart from question hour, we will also bring plaguing issues to the notice of government during zero hour and also by appropriate calling attentions. Incapacitated BJP government is so afraid that it has played tactics to transfer starred LAQ to unstarred, so discussion doesn’t take place during the session,” Alemao said.
“With inflation already soaring, the government’s proposal to hike power tariffs is ill-timed. We have strongly objected to this move and plan to raise the issue on the first day of the assembly session, time permitting during Question Hour,” said Alemao.
