  3. PRABHAV NAIK DEMANDS CANCELLATION OF MARGAO MUNICIPAL COUNCIL RECRUITMENT; CALLS FOR SSC OVERSIGHT ON ALL SELF-GOVERNING BODIES

I welcome Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s renewed announcement to route all government recruitments through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This is a long-awaited step toward ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in the recruitment process. The people of Goa, especially our youth, deserve a level playing field in all government job opportunities, said Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.

However, I once again reiterate my demand that all self-governing bodies, including municipal councils and panchayats, must also come under the purview of the SSC. There cannot be exceptions when the objective is clean recruitment. Selective implementation will only lead to manipulation, nepotism, and continued erosion of public trust, Naik stated.

It is shocking that the Margao Municipal Council has proceeded with a direct recruitment process for thirteen posts, despite the CM’s 2024 commitment. This act not only defies the stated policy of the government but reeks of backdoor dealings and political interference. Madganvcho Awaaz calls for immediate cancellation of this recruitment and for the process to be restarted through the SSC.

“To expose the rot, I have already sealed an envelope containing the names of candidates who are allegedly fixed to be selected for these thirteen posts. This envelope has been signed by journalists as witnesses. I will open it at the appropriate time to show how deep the manipulation runs,” Naik revealed.

If the government is truly committed to clean governance, this is the litmus test. “The Chief Minister must act swiftly to ensure that no self-governing body bypasses the SSC and that the same standard of fairness applies across the board. The youth of Goa are watching and will not forgive betrayal of their aspirations,” he warned.

“I urge Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to intervene without delay, issue orders to halt the Margao Municipal Council recruitment, and bring all such bodies under SSC oversight. This is not just about thirteen posts—it is about the integrity of the entire recruitment system in Goa,” Naik concluded.
