2 ARRESTED BY PERNEM POLICE IN A MAJOR THEFT CASE, RECOVER STOLEN GOLD ORNAMENTS
PANAJI: The Pernem Police arrested two persons for committing theft by breaking house at Paliem, Pernem.
As per Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, a case of theft was registered at Pernem Police Station on 31st December 2020 upon the complaint of Hari Palyekar that some unknown persons had broke opened his house and stolen jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh and cash of Rs 22,000.
Accordingly investigation was conducted in all possible ways. Local intelligence was collected from every place around by making many teams of Police staff. Finally two accused persons were detained and upon thorough interrogation they confessed to the crime.
Police have recovered all the stolen gold jewellery items which were found to be in melted form which accused had sold to one jewellery shop at Mapusa market.
The police gave the names of accused asGanesh Mhapsekar, 23, a resident of Nachinola, Bardez and Firoz Mirawaz, a native of Hubbali, Karnataka and presently residing at Karaswada, Bardez. Police have obtained three days police custody of the accused person.
A police team consisting of PI Dalvi himself, PSI Harish Vaigankar, PSI Vivek Harankar and constables Ravi Maloji and Anish Kumar Poke worked out entire case.
Further investigation is in progress, police said.
